Community Support Service
The Community Support Service (CSS) supports children and young people up to age 18 who have moderate to severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex health needs who have had an assessment by Disability Social Care that identifies the child or young person is eligible for the service.
CSS provides a range of services and support:
- Saturday and holiday clubs where children and young people from age 6 – 19 can take part in fun, stimulating activities
- Short breaks and care for your son or daughter either in your home or local community
- Family and parenting support and practical help in your home

Accessing the Service
To access CSS you will need an assessment from the 0-25 Disability Social Care team which identifies that you are eligible for our services. Your social worker will refer you to us. If an offer of a service is made you will usually be allocated a specific number of hours or sessions which you can use over a weekly or monthly period. How you use your hours will be decided in a meeting with a member of the CSS team who will complete a Care Plan and Safety Plan with you and your child.
CSS is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the provision of domiciliary care.
CQC can ask for personal information about the children and young people who use our services at any time.
You cannot purchase services directly from CSS using Direct Payments.
CamPlay clubs and groups
CamPlay clubs and groups
CamPlay clubs and groups offer a fun, child-centred and safe environment for children and young people aged 6 - 19 with additional needs.
CamPlay offer play based, community and youth clubs on Saturdays and Sundays and Holiday Clubs during the Easter, Summer and Christmas Holidays. All clubs are accessible in the Fenland, Ely, Huntingdonshire, and Central Cambridge areas.

Short Breaks
The team can provide support for your son or daughter at home or support them with activities in their local community. The support offered will be based on the needs of your son or daughter and agreed as part of your care and support plan.

Family and Parenting Support
Your social worker may refer you to the team for practical help. We can work with eligible families for a short but intensive period of time in their own home to help with issues such as sleep problems, meal times, personal care, establishing routines and boundaries.
Proactive Parenting courses are usually delivered in a group but can also be delivered on a 1:1 basis and are designed specifically to support families with children with special educational needs or disabilities.
Sleep Programmes
We have specially trained sleep practitioners who can work with families to help overcome sleep issues such as night waking, trouble settling to sleep, night time routines and challenging behaviour at bedtime. The support offered will vary depending on individual needs but can include: workshops to discuss sleep issues, signposting and guidance for other professionals working with your family, practical support and an individual sleep programme.
