Short Breaks price guide - clubs, holiday clubs and community support

 Back
Young boy in wheelchair outside

This price guide, along with our information about personal budgets and direct payments, has been put together to help families and their disability social care worker spend the personal budget that has been allocated and so you know exactly what things will cost.

This price guide only talks about Cambridgeshire County Council owned services or services that Cambridgeshire County Council have commissioned. Therefore it is not an exhaustive list of activities and services that are available in the community which direct payments could be used to purchase.

Club staffing and support

All the clubs are run with a suitable level of staffing for the group, the ages of children and the activity. If you feel your child may need more adult support you can discuss this with your disability social care worker and the activity provider.

If your child needs 1:1 or 2:1 support the activity or club may cost more as extra staff will need to be employed. If this is the case the activity provider will let you know how much it will cost.

Extra costs/spending money

Some clubs include going out into the community and doing various activities mainly for fun and enjoyment, but also to give young people the opportunity to learn and practice skills that are of use to them now and into the future. Your child may sometimes need some spending money for things like admission fees, snacks etc. Clubs will always let you know in advance when this is the case.

Trial sessions and cancellation notice

Some of the clubs and activities offer try out sessions for you and your child to find out what it’s like and ask any questions.

SEND ART circulate a list of available spaces at clubs to all social care teams on a monthly basis and referrals will only be accepted for clubs that have spaces, as clubs do not hold referral lists.

If you decide to use any of the clubs or groups you will normally need to give a month’s notice to the provider if you no longer wish your child to go. Sometimes the provider may agree to waive this.

Specialist Services (Eligibility Criteria Level 3)

Some clubs and groups are only available to children and young people with profound and significant disabilities (specialist services) who have been assessed by a social worker as meeting Eligibility Criteria Level 3 and/or attend an area Special School. These are called Specialist Services (and are shown as such in the listings below.

The Special Schools are Castle, Granta, Highfields Ely and Littleport, Martin Bacon Academy, Samuel Pepys and Spring Common.
